2/15-MVW Peoria, IL House Show Report

Missouri Valley Wrestling House Show Report
Peoria Civic Center
Peoria, IL
Saturday February 15th, 2020

With CEO Ray McAvay and Rah up in Chicago for High Octane Wrestling’s 400th show, Chief Business Officer Laura Bergman ran the show in Peoria and had to deal with a little chicanery on the part of the Sports Entertainment Corporation and MVW Men’s Champion ‘Big Money’ Darin Matthews at the end of the show. Fortunately for Laura, she had an ace up her sleeve and rescued the main event.

Big matches on the night included the Average Joe-Charlie Blackwell match to set up the next #1 contender’s match for the Men’s title, two more installments of the war between the Southern Boys and the SEC, and the return of a former champion.

Missouri Valley Wrestling Peoria, IL Results
MATCH #1-Yosemite Samantha defeated ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin @ 7:23
Tessa Martin’s problems continue against Yosemite Samantha. She never really got into the match and Yosemite Samantha did everything in her power to keep it that way. Not YS’s best performance but she’ll take it. Yosemite Samantha hit the Cannonball to seal the win.

MATCH #2-‘No Frills’ Chris Escondido defeated Pete Howe @ 13:53
-It took a while but Escondido ground out a tough win over the former bartender from the UK. Howe battled throughout but never could really get a foothold on the match. Escondido hit the Brainbuster to earn the pinfall.

MATCH #3-Georgia-Florida State Boundary: Skyler and Bryan defeated Rough Justice: D.B. Ruff and Connor Justice @ 12:57
Two wins in two nights for the Georgia-Florida State Boundary. Tonight it was Skyler who picked up the pinfall with the Grand Olde Opry Cutter on Ruff to pick up the win and move back into the rankings at #4.

Also for the second consecutive night, the corporate country stars get attacked after the match- this time by Rough Justice.

MATCH #4-Average Joe (Truckin’ Average Company) defeated ‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell @ 18:43
Huge upset in a #2 vs. #3 Men’s Division match. Average Joe came out hot. Blackwell fought to get back into the match. And then both men put on a show for the fans of Peoria until Average Joe hit his Average Slam out of nowhere to stun not only Charlie Blackwell but the fans as well.

MATCH #5- Kirsten Canfield, Shizuko Yamazaki, and Lisa Barbosa-Stevens defeated Sports Entertainment Corporation: Victoria McGill, Poison Penny, and Christa Carmondy via DQ @ 6:55
This one broke down when the SEC took out Canfield and Yamazaki (Poison Penny’s Poison Kiss) leaving Barbosa-Stevens to fend off McGill, Penny, and Carmondy. The SEC stopped caring about the win/loss and tried to inflict as much damage to Barbosa-Stevens before she faces Carmondy in a #1 contender’s match next week in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Post-match, the Stevens Dynasty (Bo and George Stevens) ran in to make the save.

MATCH #6-The Southern Boys: ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller, ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler, and ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson defeated Sports Entertainment Corporation: Kirk Walstreit, P.M.C. Banks, and Bobby Ricky Michaels @ 16:11
The Southern Boys get one over on the SEC on this occasion in an action packed, entertaining match that spent as much time outside the ring as it did inside. Butler hit the Texas Lariat on Michaels to finish things off.

MATCH#7/NON-TITLE-Women’s Tag Team Champions-Missouri Valley Fight Club: Harley Davisson and Carrieanne McDermott defeated Elaine Brazier and Tori Thomas @ 3:22
No problems for the Women’s Tag Team Champions. They took their time and eventually Davisson hit the kick stand to give the MVFC the win.

In between matches, ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann rolled an ‘injured’ ‘Big Money’ Darin Matthews – flanked by the rest of the SEC – out onto the stage and announced that due to the ‘vicious’ attack on the champion last week that he would not be able to compete tonight.

Cue massive amount of boos for the Men’s champion.

McMann then criticized Ray McAvay for going to Chicago instead of dealing with this most serious situation. That brought Laura Bergman out and she did not look happy.

Laura played the ‘when the cat’s away- the mice will play’ card on McMann and made it clear to him that she’s not buying what McMann and Matthews were selling. McMann became upset. Matthews nearly stood up out of his chair- but caught himself in time.

Laura then said to the people of Peoria, Illinois and they expected a main event tonight- and that’s exactly what they’re going to get. McMann walked over to ‘talk’ with Laura when another wrestler came out on stage- ready to wrestle. Who was it?

J.J. Bittinger.

And oh, he’s accompanied by the Southern Boys.

McMann quickly ordered his forces to the back and we had our main event.

MAIN EVENT/NON-TITLE-J.J. Bittinger defeated Bob Zardoz @ 8:30
J.J. had a little ring rust and it took a while for him to shake things loose. Zardoz came for a fight and made sure Bittinger had to work hard to get the win in his first foray in the ring since the fateful night he lost the title to Matthews. Bittinger submitted Zardoz with the Bear Hug.

Post-match, Bittinger told the fans he was happy to be back and that being injured and on the shelf sucked. Bittinger warned Matthews he had him targeted and there would be retribution on some point for what the SEC did to him last month.
