MVWA 90 Recap
Joseph Gentile Center
Chicago, IL
Saturday May 11th, 2019

Last night, a near capacity crowd saw Missouri Valley Wrestling’s MVWA 90 at the Joseph Gentile Center on the campus of Loyola of Chicago University.  Highlighting the eight match card: the big showdown between MVW Champion Charlie Blackwell and William Daniels Bryan- Bryan looking for payback after Blackwell, along with the Sports Entertainment Coalition, broke his leg back in December.

Also, Women’s Champion Christa Carmondy of the SEC faced what could be her toughest challenge yet in former MVW Women’s champion Lisa Barbosa-Stevens. And former SEC wrestlers now a part of Corporate World Inc. Kirk Walstreit and P.M.C. Banks challenge MVW Tag Team Champion ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller and “Dangerous’ Dan Williams- the new members of the SEC.

The night got under way with the first match of the evening.

Ninja Kitty is perennially MVW’s most liked wrestler because she always puts on a show inside the ring. Tonight, she would face not just one opponent but four in the opening match of the night.

What Happened?
Five women crowded into the ring for what proved to be an exciting and fun opening match. Varney was the first to go. Then Regina McGill. Vyrus stalked Ninja Kitty throughout the match. This proved to be fatal as Lt. Atcheson was able to slip in and taser Vyrus followed by a pinfall.

Turning Point?
Vyrus getting tasered. Once down to two, Ninja Kitty had much more space to operate and used her ultra-quickness to stay as far away from Lt. Atcheson and her taser as she could.

Ninja Kitty wore down Lt. Atcheson and put her away with the Hurricanrana DDT to pick up the win.

WINNER: Ninja Kitty @ 17:40

MATCH TWO/GRUDGE MATCH- ‘The New Age Cybertronic Criminally Insane Rogue Sentient Robot Wrestling Machine’ Ultratron-Five vs. Ashton Flowers ‘The Man of Mystery International’

ALIGN: 80% Face / STYLE: Entertainer / FIN: Judo Chop

Ultratron-Five had forced Dawn McGill to work for him until she broke free of his control. Then she went to work for Flowers and that caused friction between the two. Plus, Ultratron-Five really wanted McGill back in his corner so he finally abducted her last week.

What Happened?
Flowers, desperate to get McGill back in his corner, threw caution in the wind early on and went after Ultratron-Five. But he couldn’t get the final sequence to win the match.

Turning Point?
Dawn McGill shows up on the ramp. Her hair is disheveled and she’s trying to get to the ring after ‘escaping’ Ultratron-Five’s lair. But McGill stuns everyone in the building when she turns on Flowers and reveals that her eyes are blank and she is under Ultratron-Five’s control.

Ultratron-Five then pinned Flowers after hitting the Disintegrator (modified F-5) to win the match.

Dawn McGill (cold, emotionless voice): “I must help Ultratron-Five take over Missouri Valley Wrestling.”

WINNER: Ultratron-Five @ 11:17

Ultratron-Five now calls himself Ultratron-5.1 and vows to take over Missouri Valley Wrestling by first taking over the Heartland title.

Battle of old foes. The AoD are 5 time MVW Tag Team champions. The Korvers 2 time MVW Tag Team champions.

What Happened?
Another classic match pitting the Korvers’s technical ability versus the AoD’s strength and agility.

Turning Point?
Scott and Casey isolated Kelly Korver for several minutes and wore her down. Korey finally got the hot tag and cleaned house to give the Korvers a chance. But the AoD regained control of the match and isolated Korey.

The AoD hit their Angel Death Drop on Korey to score the win.

WINNER: Angels of Death @ 16:33

The Hanson Sisters (SEC) hit the ring and all hell broke loose. But the AoD and the Korvers joined forces to repel them. Afterwards, both teams shake hands.

ALIGN: 55% Heel / STYLE: Brawler-Power / FIN: High Crossbody into a Powerbomb

Three top contenders for the MVW title getting a chance to jockey for position for a possible title shot. Dickinson is still pissed over getting ‘screwed’ out of a title shot.

What Happened?
The two heels- Chism and Dickinson- made quick work of Scott. Then Dickinson’s brawling style battled Chism’s technical ability. Both men went at it hard for a good ten minutes.

Turning Point?
Dickinson’s SEC running mates ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller and ‘Dangerous’ Dan Williams got involved in the match and distracted Chism.

Dickinson hit his high crossbody and rolled it into a power bomb to get the win.

WINNER: ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson @ 14:21

Dickinson gets on the microphone and went off on ‘Red Solo Cup’ Ray McAvay again for costing him a title shot tonight.

MATCH FIVE/THE DORK DYNASTY’S FINAL APPEARANCE-The Dork Dynasty: Sheldon and Leonard Robertson vs. Truckin’ Average Company: Ken Worth-American Trucker and Brad Company

It’s been well known that the Dorks were going to call it career in May and that day has come for the nerdy master’s students and duck call, decoy fabricators. Truckin’ Average Company gets the call to be the Dork’s final opponent.

What Happened/Finisher?
The Dorks actually get along with each other. They run through the hits and hit the Big Bang Deathblast on Company to score the win.

ALIGN: 70% Heel / STYLE: All-Around / FIN: Stock Market Plunge
MGR: ‘King of Greed’ Gordon Guyko
ASST: Melissa

‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann unceremoniously booted Kirk Walstreit and P.M.C. Banks from the SEC over two months ago (at MVWA 88) to bring in Miller and Williams as the SEC’s tag team. Walstreit and Banks regrouped and rejoined the ‘King of Greed’ Gordon Guyko to form Corporate World Inc.

Since then, CWI charged up the rankings with an eye on getting revenge on the SEC and Mr. McMann for the way Walstreit and Banks were ejected from the group.

What Happened?
Walstreit and Banks aggressively pursue the hard-hitting, uncompromising Miller and Williams and the match is a slugfest early on- which played into the SEC team’s hands. Then CWI started to out-wrestle the tag team champions and concern was etched across the face of Mr. McMann.

Turning Point?
Bill Dickinson came back to ringside. The Hanson Sisters began to agitate with the referee. Walstreit hit the Stock Market Plunge on Miller and went for the pinfall but the referee didn’t see the pin because he was trying the shepherd the Hansons out of the ring. Dickinson snuck in and walloped Walstreit. That brought Banks in who decked Miller.

The referee did see Banks taking out Miller so he immediately called for the bell and disqualified Walstreit and Banks.

WINNER VIA DQ AND STILL MVW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Sports Entertainment Coalition @ 12:22

Guyko storms the ring and he, Walstreit, and Banks unload on the referee. The SEC get out of Dodge fast before Walstreit and Banks can get their hands on them.

ALIGN: 55% Face / STYLE: All Around / FIN: Toxic Sting
MGR: Ted Tebow- Tim Tebow’s long lost black sheep brother no one ever knew he had.
BODYGUARDS: The Stevens Dynasty-Bo and George Stevens

The SEC’s Christa Carmondy has dominated the women’s division for 364 days ever since winning the title from Lisa Barbosa-Stevens last May. Barbosa-Stevens recently returned to MVW after a hiatus and has found a way to scratch and crawl her way back into title contention after enlisting family members to watch her back.

What Happened?
Barbosa-Stevens pushed the tempo of the match from the opening bell and the Women’s Champion found herself on the back foot. Christa stalled for time on multiple occasions to try to put a stop to Barbosa-Stevens’s momentum but the challenger continued to put the pressure on her.

Turning Point?
Realizing that Christa was having an off night, Mr. McMann had to come up with an exit plan. But before he could act, Barbosa-Stevens dropped Carmondy with the Toxic Sting. McMann immediately sent the Hanson Sisters into the ring to attack Barbosa-Stevens knowing the referee would disqualify Carmondy but she’d remain the champion.

And that’s what happened. But McMann didn’t account for was the Stevens Dynasty- Bo and George Stevens running around the ring and going after him. The Hanson Sisters peeled off Barbosa-Stevens and provided interference as McMann and SEC Mouthpiece Phil Finebaum ran for their lives to the back.

WINNER VIA DQ- Lisa Barbosa-Stevens @ 11:35 / Christa Carmondy remains the MVW Women’s Champion

Barbosa-Stevens posed with the MVW Women’s belt over a woozy Carmondy before dropping the strap on the mat and exiting the ring.

MAIN EVENT/MVW TITLE MATCH-‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell © vs. William Daniels Bryan

Last December, Blackwell- then with the SEC- broke Bryan’s leg at a house show in Rolla, Missouri. With P.M.C. Banks and Kirk Walstreit holding Bryan down, Blackwell places Bryan’s leg inside a steel chair and climbs up to the top of the turnbuckle. Blackwell jumps from the corner turnbuckle onto the chair- snapping the leg.

Bryan worked his tail off rehabbing the leg and came back much sooner than anyone expected. He firmly set his eye on retribution to both Blackwell and the SEC. But the landscape changed when Blackwell left the SEC two months ago and formed the Texas Strangers with ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler and Mr. McMann brought in a whole new crew to the SEC.

Last week on MVW Sunday Night Wrestling, Blackwell and Butler came to Bryan’s aid at the end of the show when ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson and the SEC were going to try and break Bryan’s leg again. Blackwell and Butler took out the SEC with steel chairs leading to an awkward encounter between the MVW Champion and Bryan at the end of the show where Blackwell bumps up against Bryan and Bryan realizes Blackwell just saved him from the SEC.

What Happened?
One thing was clear from the outset. Blackwell came into the match in tremendous shape and wrestled at a high level. Bryan still has a way to go to get back to 100% recovery from the leg injury. The challenger put up a game effort but always seemed a step behind Blackwell throughout the match.

Turning Point?
The SEC (‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson, ‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller, and ‘Dangerous’ Dan Williams) stormed the ring late and steamrolled Blackwell. Bryan got tossed over the top rope which left Blackwell to fend off Dickinson, Miller, and Williams.

Referee Davey Keels immediately called for the bell. Blackwell lost the numbers game and the SEC went to try and break his leg- just like they’d done to Bryan six months before. That brought out ‘Red Solo Cup’ Ray McAvay from the Deplorables and Blackwell’s Texas Stranger’s running mate ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler. McAvay knocked Dickinson silly with a Big Bertha Driver shot to the head. Butler and Miller brawled. Blackwell and Williams brawled.

Finally Bryan climbed back into the ring and Crane kicked Dickinson (McAvay held him up for Bryan), Crane kicked Williams (Blackwell set him up), and Crane kicked Miller (Butler).

WINNER AND STILL MVW CHAMPION VIA DQ- ‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell @ 10:59

An angry Mr. McMann and Phil Finebaum came out and pointed their fingers at both Blackwell and Bryan as the show came to an end.
