FOLLOWING MVWA 82
April saw Missouri Valley Wrestling owner Jason Carmondy and his CEO Jill Berg trying to pick up more momentum following a successful MVWA 82 show. MVW continued the every other weekend approach to their house shows and all the champions did their part to create interest.
MVW Champion William Daniels Bryan and Women’s Champion Lisa Barbosa-Stevens did their part, appearing at every house show in some capacity. Tag Team Champions The Dork Dynasty (Leonard and Sheldon Robertson) wrestled a series of matches against the Island of Misfit Wrestlers (Rah and Halitosis with Regina McGill) and former Tag Champions Weapons of Mass Destruction (A. Tom Bomb and Hy Drogen Bomb) throughout the month.
But the champion who always kept things interesting at the shows was the longtime Heartland Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson. Going into month seven of his title reign, Dickinson stared down all comers to his title and the April, May run up to MVWA 83 wasn’t an exception. Dickinson fought off challenges from ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler, ‘Dangerous’ Dave Miller, and SNAFU with E.J. Flack but would end up once again with Canadian Jack Fraiser and his Oootlander Blaire Rendell at MVWA 83.
Here were the April/May 2018 set of shows leading up to MVWA 83:
April 13th – Columbus, IN
April 14th – Fort Wayne, IN
April 15th – Elkhart, IN
April 27th – Lincoln, NE
April 28th – Kearney, NE
April 29th – North Platte, NE
May 11th – Columbia, MO
May 12th – MVWA 83 in Springfield, MO
May 13th – Joplin, MO
Charlie Blackwell of the SEC continued to push on, looking for another shot at the MVW title.
The Sports Entertainment Corporation (SEC) feud with the Kardoucheians veered towards another confrontation at MVWA 83. The SEC persisted with their claim that the Kardoucheians owed them two million dollars. Why?
MVW Sunday Night Wrestling- December 3rd, 2017
McMann is spitting mad. One, Dawn McGill was released from her MVW contract. Which means, two, the video tape of Ken Kardoucheian’s dream date with Dawn McGill that the SEC- through CSPN- paid two million dollars for didn’t achieve its desired result…Dawn McGill’s service to the SEC. McMann claimed that the video, while salacious and truly not Dawn McGill’s best moment, didn’t result in the outcome promised. McMann calls the ‘video’ typical Hollywood sleaze and demands a full refund.
Splitter then complains that as a result of this unscrupulous transaction, CSPN is going to have to lay off a lot of ‘little people who don’t make a lot of money anyways but we’ll cut them instead of our high priced talent’ from the company.
Khris Kardoucheian walks to ringside with his sons and blames both McMann and Splitter for not adequately having a plan put together regarding Dawn McGill before paying the two million dollars for the video.
Or in other words, SEC mouthpiece Phil Finebaum and Corporate SportsEntertainment Programming Nation (CSPN) CEO Mark Splitter holds grudges.
Christa Carmondy put her nose to the grindstone and pushed her way back to another title shot against Women’s Champion Lisa Barbosa-Stevens.
MVWA 83 Recap
May 12th, 2018
Both Jill Berg and Jason Carmondy welcomed everyone to the show.
MATCH #1 Ninja Kitty vs. Adrienne Banks
Fun while it lasted. Ninja Kitty drove Banks crazy with her movement and hit the pounce to take the pinfall.
MATCH #2 Rah vs. Couch Potato
The battle of entrances. Rah gets the win with the Eye of Rahhhh! (jackknife powerbomb)
MATCH #3 SNAFU w/Coach E.J. Flack vs. Connor Justice w/D.B. Ruff
SNAFU didn’t quite ‘Narfle the Garthok’ but he overcome Ruff Justice’s (Justice and Ruff) doubleteam tactics to win with the Philadelphia Facebuster. Then Ruff tased the holy hell out of him after the match.
The next match, Yosemite Samantha came out with her own unique.
Kimber Marshall: She is from Dodge City, Kansas! She is the roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest cowgirl who ever crossed the Rio Grande! Please welcome…YOOOOO-SIMMM-MIT-TEEEEEEEE…SAMANTHA!
[Yosemite Samantha, sporting a big ten gallon cowboy hat and a holster complete with gun, walks out onto the stage and gives the Cedar Rapids audience the ol’ stinkeye.]
Pop queen, amphetamine
The screams crashed into silence
Doused in the gasoline
The high times going timeless
Death of the innocence
The pathway starts to spiral
All for publicity
Destruction going viral
[With an intense look on her face, Yosemite Samantha marches down to the ring.]
Light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Ah, kill the truth
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
[She leaps onto the ring apron and takes aim at her opponent.]
Sold your soul
Built a higher wall
Now you’re thrown away
Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame
[Samantha removes her cowboy hat and gun holster and leaves them in the corner.]
MATCH #4 Yosemite Samantha vs. C.J. Lewis
The former Hooter’s waitress (Lewis) against the roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest cowgirl who ever crossed the Rio Grande (Yosemite Samantha). Lewis fought hard but Samantha went around the world to smash the former waitress into the steel barrier around the ring. She drug Lewis back to the ring and made the cover for the win.
MATCH #5 HEARTLAND TITLE #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH: Cowboy Dan Butler vs. Dangerous Dave Miller
Both men had been in wars with ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson over the past few weeks. Tonight was their chance to earn a title shot. Proper pier six brawl. Butler’s experience got him over in the end and he earned himself a Heartland title opportunity.
MATCH #6 HEARTLAND TITLE MATCH: ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson © vs. Jack Fraiser with his Oootlander Blaire Rendell
Fraiser and Dickinson had torn up the Midwest themselves in the past few weeks since Fraiser had asserted himself and pushed the issue with the Heartland champion. Unfortunately, Dickinson had a wealth of experience in these type of situations and schooled Fraiser for the win.
MATCH #7 MVW TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Dork Dynasty (Leonard and Sheldon Robertson) © vs. The Sports Entertainment Corporation (Charlie Blackwell and P.M.C. Banks)
Blackwell took a break from his singles pursuit and teamed up with Banks to take on the Dorks in a title match. The Dorks ‘scientific’ wrestling skills outshine the SEC’s more athletic Banks and Blackwell but it was interference from the Kardoucheian Empire that threw the match in the champion’s favor. Sheldon delivered the “Big Bang Theory” to Banks to seal the title defense.
Post match, an irate Blackwell DDT’d the hell out of Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, and Amy and took off backstage with Banks to search for the Kardoucheians.
MATCH #8 MVW TITLE MATCH: William Daniels Bryan © vs. Millennial Mark
Bryan made quick work of it. He slapped on the Cattle Mutilation submission hold at the three minute mark and the Millennial tapped out right away.
Post match, Blackwell came back and gave Millennial Mark a post-match beatdown.
MATCH #9 MVW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH: Lisa Barbosa-Stevens © vs. Christa Carmondy
For the second consecutive show, the women took top billing, thrilling the crowd with another twenty minute battle between two of the top women talents in MVW. At MVWA 82, Christa won by disqualification. At MVWA 83, she finished the job with the Mean Girl Crush to win the MVW Women’s title back from Barbosa-Stevens.
AFTERMATH FOLLOWING MVWA 83
The night after MVWA 83, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens bid farewell to Missouri Valley Wrestling. She thanked everyone for their support and wished MVW good luck in the future.
The rancor between the Kardoucheians and the SEC ramped up. The SEC demanded a final match with the Kardoucheians to settle the issue concerning the two million dollars but Kris Kardoucheian refused to sign off. Both teams engaged in hit and run skirmishes during the June/July run up to MVWA 84 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The SEC’s Charlie Blackwell went on his own personal rampage. He tore through the competition each night and demanded a title shot against William Daniels Bryan after each match.
Here were the May/June/July 2018 set of shows leading up to MVWA 83:
May 25th – Bloomington, IL
May 26th – Champaign, IL
May 27th – Effingham, IL
June 8th – Salina, KS
June 9th – Manhattan, KS
June 10th – Topeka, KS
June 22nd – Sioux Falls, SD
June 23rd – Pierre, SD
June 24th – Rapid City, SD
July 6th – Columbus, IN
July 7th – Louisville, KY
July 8th – Vincennes, IN
July 20th – Iowa City, IA
July 21st – MVWA 84 Des Moines, IA
July 22nd – Mason City, IA
The rumor mill jumped into high gear in the weeks leading up to MVWA 84 that several former Missouri Valley Wrestling personalities would return.
The first rumor centered on the alleged imminent return of Dawn McGill to MVW. McGill went to rehab for an alcohol problem after getting picked up for a DUI right before MVWA 79 in December 2017 and stayed low the first part of the year.
‘Red Solo Plastic Cup’ Ray McAvay. McAvay dropped the MVW Title in January 2018 to William Daniels Bryan and underwent neck surgery in February to clean up some debris from an old injury suffered when he wrestled in High Octane Wrestling.
And then, ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann. McMann literally disappeared after getting his testicles squeezed like a lemon by McGill at MVWA 79. Reportedly, McMann had been working behind the scenes with Jason Carmondy and Jill Berg. But now that MVW was moving forward, McMann was reported as preparing a return to the SEC.
In non-rumors, Heartland Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson dispatched #1 contender ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler in Champaign, IL in another slam bang brawl. Dickinson‘s next opponent at MVWA 84- ‘The Sunshine God’ Rah.
Christa Carmondy settled into her second run as the MVW Women’s champion. Yosemite Samantha nipped at her heels for a title shot at MVWA 84 but Ninja Kitty drew the assignment…well-deserved given her longevity…for Christa’s title.
Simmering under the radar, the ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin and the ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot. Both have ambition to earn a Women’s title shot. Tessa and Lani wrestled a series of matches on the road and would be booked at MVWA 84 to settle who would become the #1 contender.
Tag champions The Dork Dynasty (Leonard and Sheldon Robertson) geared up for the next big title defense against the Beer Bellied Softball Playing Ninja.
MVW Champion William Daniels Bryan and Charlie Blackwell locked into a collision course. Blackwell was desperately looked for his first ever big belt after a multitude of chances he’d squandered before.
MVWA 84 Recap
Des Moines, IA
July 21st, 2018
MVW CEO Jill Berg welcomes the fans of Des Moines back to MVW. She notes that MVW ran here back in March and she’s glad that they’re back again. Jill promises ‘lots of surprises’ tonight. The first one walked out to the ring and joined Berg- Dawn McGill.
McGill received a raucous standing ovation from the MVW faithful and looked slimmed down since the last time she set first in a Missouri Valley Wrestling ring. She thanked everyone for their support. She hoped to return at some point in the near future.
MATCH #1 Jack Fraiser w/his Oootlander Blaire Rendell vs. SNAFU w/Coach E.J. Flack
Both men are trying to get back into the Heartland title picture. SNAFU started first with his offense- mirroring with efficiency the offensive moves utilitzed by former ECW wrestler Sabu. But Fraiser stuck with it. His Oootlander Blaire Rendell tripped up SNAFU late in the match and Fraiser took home the win.
MATCH #2 Yosemite Samantha vs. Adrienne Banks
Yosemite Samantha is red hot about the fact she can’t get a title shot. Adrienne Banks is the unfortunate person Samantha takes her frustrations out on. Easy win for the roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest cowgirl who ever crossed the Rio Grande.
MATCH #3 Weapons of Mass Destruction: A. Tom Bomb and Hy Drogen Bomb with Daisy Cutter Bomb vs. The Sports Entertainment Corporation: ‘Wall Street Market Analyst with the Man Crush on ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit’ Kirk Walstreit and P.M.C. Banks
This match hit the twenty minute mark with both teams throwing everything they’ve got against the other. Then the fun really began. Kris Kardoucheian led the Kardoucheian Empire to the ring and caused chaos. The Kardoucheians attacked SEC mouthpiece Phil Finebaum, CSPN CEO Mark Splitter, and ‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell. Walstreit and Banks became distracted. A-Bomb and H-Bomb delivered simultaneous Atomic and Hydrogen Powerbombs to both men. Game. Set. Match.
Post match, ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann came to the ring to announce to the MVW world that he’d decided to return. McMann called what happened in the match ‘unacceptable’ and demanded a ‘final’ match between the SEC and the Kardoucheians to settle all accounts. MVW CEO Jill Berg came out to hear McMann’s proposal.
McMann: Let’s make this simple. If the SEC wins, the Kardoucheian Empire has to leave Missouri Valley Wrestling for good. If the Kardoucheians win, the SEC has to pay them another two million dollars.
Kris Kardoucheian eagerly accepted McMann’s terms and the match was set up for MVWA 85 in September at Valparaiso, IN.
MATCH #4 WOMEN’S TITLE #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH: ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin vs. ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot w/the White Trash Posse (Shayne and Jaxson)
Tess and Lani went toe to toe for fifteen minutes until the White Trash Posse interfered. Shayne took a metal baton to Tess’s knee and Lani slapped on the White Trash Compactor to claim the win and the #1 contender’s spot.
Post-match, Tess dropped Shayne with a Pizza Cutter. Harlot and Jaxson were about to pounce on her but Mr. McMann, Phil Finebaum, and the rest of the SEC came to the ring. McMann had a business proposition for Tessa- return to the SEC and he promised what happened in the match would never happen again.
Tess told McMann she’d think about it.
MATCH #5 HEARTLAND TITLE: ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson vs. Rah
Dickinson ground down the bigger man and took the win to continue his title reign.
MATCH #6 TAG TEAM TITLE: The Dork Dynasty: Leonard and Sheldon Robertson © vs. The Beer Bellied Softball Playing Ninja: Hank and Tiny w/Stan and April O’Neale
Classic matchup of scientific wrestling versus power. Leonard and Sheldon kept the BBSPN off balance until the SEC decided to make a statement and attack the Dork’s opponents. Referee Davey Keels immediately threw the match out giving the BBSPN the DQ win.
MATCH #7 WOMEN’S TITLE: Christa Carmondy © vs. Ninja Kitty
This ended up being a fascinating match of contrasts. Ninja Kitty had one avenue to take to win- wear down Christa and frustrate her to the point where she couldn’t think straight anymore. And it damn well almost worked. For the first fifteen minutes, Christa was fit to be tied and couldn’t lay a hand on Ninja Kitty. In the 20th minute, Ninja Kitty ran out of gas and that allowed Christa to seize the moment. She hit the Mean Girl Crush at the 22nd minute to save her title reign and win the match.
Former MVW Champion ‘Red Solo Plastic Cup’ Ray McAvay came out to a standing ovation. He’d not made any public appearances since the neck surgery in February. McAvay put over the main event between Charlie Blackwell and Champion William Daniels Bryan and promised to be back soon.
MAIN EVENT- MVW TITLE: William Daniels Bryan © vs. ‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell
With McAvay on hand and Blackwell acutely aware of his presence, Blackwell came out and wrestled the best match in his career. Blackwell submitted W.D.B at the 14:22 mark to finally reach the top of the mountain and the MVW title.
Post-match, Blackwell shouted at McAvay and pointed to his new title belt.
