WHAT HAPPENED?

MATCH ONE:
Ninja Kitty vs. ‘Queen Cool’ Leah Iris

Thunderbolt Smith: Ninja Kitty came out and did what she does…stick…move…and frustrate the hell out of her opponent. And Leah Iris was frustrated. She tried to be patient. She tried not to chase. But Ninja Kitty was on her game and Iris ended up losing her composure. Ninja debuted her new finisher the hurricanrana DDT and came away with a most impressive win.

Rick Hall: Totally concur. What Ninja Kitty lacks in overall body strength, she more than makes up with in sheer quickness. Leah got caught up in chasing her around the ring and walked into big move after big move. Ninja Kitty’s new finisher is going to give her a much needed new weapon. Great win for her.

MATCH TWO:
Bo Stevens with Ted Tebow- Tim Tebow’s long lost Black Sheep brother no one knew he had vs. ‘No Frills’ Chris Escondido

Thunderbolt Smith: Bo Stevens went to school last night as he took on the experienced Chris Escondido in a twenty minute match that went to the time limit. Escondido is no longer an elite wrestler…a devastating knee injury robbed him of that status. But there’s no one better inside the squared circle in terms of technical ability and savvy. Stevens hit a boatload of BO-plexes and a couple BO-dogs while Tebow ‘Tebowed’ a lot during the match. In the end, the result was a fair one as Escondido’s skill and in-ring proficiency negated Stevens’s youth and strength.

Rick Hall: Bo Stevens tried everything trick he knew. At this point in his career, Escondido knows a lot more tricks and employed them to great effect against the younger Stevens. Stevens will learn much from his encounter with Chris Escondido and we’ll see much knowledge he absorbed from the match.

MATCH THREE:
The Beer Bellied Softball Playing Ninja (Hank and Tiny with Stan and April O’Neale) and ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler vs. Weapons of Mass Destruction (A. Tom Bomb and Hy Drogen Bomb with Daisy Cutter-Bomb) and TV Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson vs. The Kardoucheians (Ken, Koley, and Khourtney Kardoucheian with Khris Kardoucheian)

Thunderbolt Smith: In this one, there seemed to be pact between the BBSPN and the WMD to eliminate the Kardoucheians as quickly as possible. Even heated rivals ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler and MVW Television Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson set aside their differences long enough to pin Ken Kardoucheian and eliminate the Kardoucheians from the match. Then the fun began. This one went all over the arena. Even valets April O’Neale and Daisy Cutter-Bomb got into the act and had an in-ring cat-fight while all six of the others fought through the crowd. Eventually, the action returned to the ring and Butler hit a Texas Lariat on Dickinson for the win.

Rick Hall: Good old fashioned ECW-style brawl. Butler gets a little payback on Dickinson and I can see a third match in the future for Butler and Dickinson.

MATCH FOUR:
Yosemite Samantha vs. ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot with the White Trash Posse Shayne and Jaxson vs. Kathryn Randall Collins

Thunderbolt Smith: Yosemite Samantha and Lani Harlot are on the ascendancy. KRC has hit that point of her career where she’s probably peaked and on the long slide down. That being said, Collins locked up Lani Harlot in the Gogoplata early on- Harlot was saved by the White Trash Posse. Samantha then roared through and sent Shayne and Jaxson through the ropes out to the floor. Harlot eliminated KRC with the White Trash Compactor and then got steamrolled by a Yosemite Samantha Cannonball for the win. Big win for Yosemite Samantha and should get her some notice in the Women’s division.

Rick Hall: If you can believe it given the fact that she is such a combustible wrestler inside the ring, Yosemite Samantha has patiently bided her time and waited for her opportunity to knock. After the win at MVWA 77, that opportunity may be knocking a lot sooner. Samantha gets a huge win. Lani Harlot continues to stay in the mix with an impressive performance. And Kathryn Randall Collins proved that she could still go.

MATCH FIVE / MVW TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:
Island of Misfit Wrestlers (Rah and ‘The Luchador with Insanely Poor Oral Hygiene’ Halitosis with ‘Sinfully Delicious’ Dawn McGill) © vs. The Sports Entertainment Corporation (‘The Scorpion’ Scott Stevens and P.M.C. Banks with Mr. McMann and Charlie Blackwell)

Thunderbolt Smith: Not the best night for the Tag Team Champions. Scott Stevens showed why he wrestles at a big time level by tearing through both Rah and Halitosis at will. The Island fared better when P.M.C. Banks was in there. Rah hit a few suplexes and teased the ‘Eye of Rah’ but Banks managed to slip away. Dawn McGill saved the champions repeatedly which frustrated ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann and her cousin Charlie Blackwell. There was the obligatory ‘kissing’ spot where McGill pulled referee Ron Martin to her and laid on a big time kiss on him after Stevens Toxic Stung Halitosis and was in the process of pinning him.

Pissed at the fact the referee did not make the count, Stevens went right over to Martin and started screaming at him. Banks came over and started shouting at McGill. McMann became concerned that Martin might throw the match out and tried to get Banks back to the SEC corner. Stevens went back in the ring and hit a second Toxic Sting on Halitosis. He hooked the leg. Martin was there this time to make the count. But McGill grabbed a chair and whapped Stevens in the back with it causing Martin to disqualify the champions.

McMann went ballistic. Banks got in referee Ron Martin’s face. Stevens went on a rampage. He started towards Halitosis but McGill hit him with a second chair shot. The Scorpion turned around and kicked the chair into Dawn’s face. Then he hit a Toxic Sting on her. But McGill gave Rah enough time to pull Halitosis to safety.

Rick Hall: The better team did not win. Stevens is light years better than this level but I don’t think Banks held up his end of the bargain. Dawn McGill did everything in her power to save Rah and Halitosis and in the end she sacrificed herself for them to hold on to the belts.

That said, the SEC blew a golden opportunity last night. McMann was fuming leaving the ring afterwards and knew they wasted a lot of money bringing Scott Stevens in for one show and not coming away with the title.

MATCH SIX / MVW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH:
Christa Carmondy © vs. Lisa Barbosa-Stevens with Mr. McMann

Thunderbolt Smith: After all the extracurricular drama in the previous match, this match went a hundred and eighty degrees in the other direction. There was drama but it was all in the ring. No shenanigans. Just pure wrestling between two foes who knew each other and knew each other well. Christa came out confident and controlled the action early on. Lisa battled back and seized the impetus. The momentum swung back and forth throughout the match. Lisa decked Christa with a Russian leg sweep and followed with a leg drop gets 2. But Christa came back with a backslide for 2. Lisa hit a running knee strike and covers for 2.

At the end, Christa went for the Mean Girl Crush but Lisa tuck and rolled through it right into a Toxic Sting. Lisa covered and we had a brand new Women’s champion.

Rick Hall: Very good match. I think we may have seen the last of Christa Carmondy in a MVW ring. She came back only out of loyalty and to help get things off the ground. Lisa Barbosa-Stevens gets her big breakthrough moment and the win eases some of the sting of what took place in the tag team match before.

MAIN EVENT / MVW MEN’S TITLE MATCH:
‘Tin Cup’ Ray McAvay with the Deplorables (West Texas Adult Entertainment Legends Dark and Stormy with Bert the Janitor) © vs. ‘Charlie Wrestling’ Charlie Blackwell with Mr. McMann and P.M.C. Banks

Thunderbolt Smith: McAvay has new music (‘Turn Around’ by Texas country music star Aaron Watson) and a new name for his group ‘The Deplorables.’ Blackwell hoped to make it two out of three titles for the SEC. Charlie bailed to the floor early on and McAvay was all too happy to follow. Banks involved himself and decked McAvay.  Blackwell also gets in some cheap shots on the floor and then rolls McAvay back in.   Blackwell shoots McAvay to the turnbuckle. A big lariat follows and Blackwell grounds the action, working a chinlock. McAvay looked to escape and hit a back elbow and chops. He goes to the ropes but Banks grabs his leg. Blackwell then hits the big boot and locked in the Katahajime. BUT…

Dark and Stormy distract referee Davey Keels by doing an impromptu striptease on the ring apron. Blackwell shouts at Keels. McMann races over to the ring apron and yells at Keels. Meanwhile, Bert the Janitor slips McAvay the Big Bertha Driver. McAvay brains Blackwell with the golf club and hits the McGill Bomb. McAvay covers. Keels sees the cover and makes the count. McMann goes apoplectic as McAvay retains. Post-match, McMann has Scott Stevens come out and hits a Toxic Sting on McAvay as a parting gift.

Rick Hall: McAvay wasn’t at his best but the SEC threw everything they could at him and couldn’t get the job done. Perhaps Mr. McMann should have had Stevens out there from the beginning. When you get into the ring with Ray McAvay you know you’re going to get the Deplorables and the three ring circus that comes along with them. Blackwell worked hard but it’s going to be hard for him to complain about McAvay’s outside interference when P.M.C. Banks interfered in the match as well. It’s going to go down as a disappointing night for the SEC as they could have very well come out of MVWA 77 with all three of the titles.

CONCLUSION:

Thunderbolt Smith: So, of the lower card matches, what do you see coming out of MVWA 77?

Rick Hall: Here we go…
-Ninja Kitty, Yosemite Samantha, and ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot are trending up.
-I think Bo Stevens looked real good against Chris Escondido and should be contending for the TV title soon.
-I can see a third match coming soon between ‘Cowboy’ Dan Butler and Television Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson.
-The Beer Bellied Softball Playing Ninja may get a little more traction in the tag team division.

Thunderbolt Smith: Okay. And the big matches.

Rick Hall: Okay…
-The SEC has to be disappointed with not coming away with more than one title tonight. Will they start stepping up their effort to woo Dawn McGill or try to eliminate her from the equation?
-The Island of Misfit Wrestlers tag team title reign may be on borrowed time- McGill is the only reason they are still champions.
-With Christa Carmondy’s impending departure, who will step up to challenge Lisa Barbosa-Stevens in the Women’s division?
-I would bet money that we will see ‘Tin Cup’ Ray McAvay defending his title again against Charlie Blackwell in four weeks at MVWA 78.

Thunderbolt Smith: So, that’s going to do it for our MVWA 77 recap. We will see what the repercussions are from last night next week on MVW Sunday Night Wrestling.
