VINCENNES, INDIANA — Last Friday, the farthest thing on Dawn McGill’s mind when she arrived at the Vincennes Lincoln High School gym for a Missouri Valley Wrestling house show was staying on full time as their executive director. In Vincennes for what she believed would be her final weekend before returning home to Texas to play full time mother, McGill focused on making sure everything had been set up for the person who would take her place- whomever the MVW Supporter’s Trust Board decided to hire in.
What McGill or the board didn’t count on was a group of MVW wrestlers, led by Dawn’s younger sister Regina, staging an in house revolt- hence why the MVW show in Vincennes last Friday was cut short and the MVWA 72 show originally scheduled for Sunday May 29th had to be postponed one week all together. Among the MVW wrestlers who threatened to walk out unless Dawn came back: Television Champion Regina McGill, former MVW Champion Kathryn Randall Collins, Heartland Champion Kari Ferguson, Four Time MVW Tag Team Champions Angels of Death (Angel Scott/Angel Casey), and ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin.
It all started with a simple segment after the show’s first match of the night- a showcase match between MVW Young Gun Bethany Stewart, a promising newcomer to the Missouri Valley Wrestling roster, and veteran Maxie Perry where Stewart picked up the win. Then ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann- the main villain in this power play who’d put out a $25,000 bounty on Dawn McGill’s head the week before, came out with the Sports Entertainment Consortium’s (SEC) Christa Carmondy, Daisy Cutter-Bomb, Prisoner #034291, MVW Tag Team Champions Brandi and Wendi Bayless, and ‘Argenta Rose’ Eva Perrin. Also coming out to the ring, McMann’s hired guns Bo Stevens of the Texas Stevens wrestling family and Timothy Allen Tebow- no not THAT Tebow along with Rough Justice (D.B. Ruff and Connor Justice-two former police officers fired because of their extreme brand of law enforcement).
Stevens and Tebow drug the TV Champion Regina McGill to the ring where there was a container of water inside. McMann demanded Regina tell him where Dawn McGill was backstage. She refused so Ruff and Justice dunked her head into the water repeatedly until Bo Stevens of all people intervened. Stevens decked Ruff and Justice and pulled Regina out of the water. The Resistance (Poison Penny, Carrieanne McDermott, Harley Davisson, ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot, Angel Scott and Angel Casey), the primary antagonists to the SEC, hit the ring in full force to make the save.
Stevens took the microphone and said that in good conscious he couldn’t keep this ‘secret’ any longer. He explained in great detail how Mr. McMann fed Dawn McGill drink after drink at the post show party in Rolla, Missouri (one night before Arch Wrestling Madness) and later on in the night took full advantage of the situation to ‘frame’ a few photos of her in a very compromising light.
From there, the house show unraveled. Backstage, Jason Carmondy’s office became Grand Central Station. Each member of Main Street USA demanded that MVW bring back Dawn or else they’d walk out. Mr. McMann desperately tried to play damage control but the situation spiraled out of his control. And MVW’s.
For her part, Dawn valiantly tried to keep the show going and sent out Jennifer Findley to face Janice Henry and a tag match between Paige Powers/Mitzi Meyers and Shelley Briscoe/MacKenzie MacWilliams. She then improvised a six woman tag team match between the Lancer Sisters and “High Flying Intercontinental Flight Attendant” Amie Velasco and Desiree Davis/Gwen Varney/Blake Varney to end the evening, but not before coming out to the ring to explain what happened.
After the show, Jason Carmondy spent the weekend acting as an intermediary with both McGill and the MVW Supporter’s Trust Board as both sides came to an agreement on a deal that would allow Dawn to work out of Dallas instead of St. Louis. On Monday, right before McGill was to accompany her husband High Octane Wrestling ICON Champion Ray McAvay to a HOW show in Oklahoma City, she signed off on the deal and the crisis ended.
So, fast forward to last night. Dawn McGill walked out to the ring to a hero’s welcome and not only thanked the MVW wrestlers for their vote of confidence but also the fans who came back out to see Missouri Valley Wrestling after last week’s fiasco. She promised a fast paced, hard hitting show that would set up MVWA 72 this Sunday night and that’s exactly what the fans got.
Match 1: Ninja Kitty defeated Anna Conda in 12:32
When in doubt, send out two of the most reliable and unique talents on your roster. A classic clash of styles. Ninja Kitty’s high flying, high speed attack versus Anna Conda’s devastating ground attack. After a whirlwind, breakneck paced match, Ninja Kitty hit the Pounce and took home the win.
Match 2: Bethany Stewart defeated Gina Glitter in 9:44
Despite getting Glitter Bombed two minutes into the match, Stewart somehow kept herself alive in the match until her vision cleared up. Stewart then hit a string of power bombs on Gina before rolling her up for the pin.
Match 3: Missouri Valley Fight Club (Carrieanne McDermott/Harley Davisson) defeated ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin/’Queen Cool’ Leah Iris and Daisy Cutter-Bomb/Prisoner #034291 in a tag team elimination match at 19:40
The Resistance pick up a win as the MVFC hold off Main Street USA’s Martin/Iris and the SEC’s DCB/Prisoner in a wild elimination match with zero outside interference.
Match 4: HEARTLAND TITLE MATCH: Kari Ferguson © defeated Lt. Katrina Atcheson of the Highway Patrol in 7:56
Atcheson brought along Rough Justice to the ring. Ferguson had “Disco Loving, Jet Setting International Playboy from the East” Sheik Yorbouti in her corner. But as with the earlier match involving feuding factions, nothing came of their presence at ringside.
Match 5: TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: Regina McGill © defeated Daisy Cutter-Bomb in 9:04
McGill strengthened her hold on the TV belt by defeating DCB from the SEC.
MAIN EVENT: MVW Champion ‘Canadian Cyborg’ Sheline Carrigan/Angels of Death (Angel Scott/Angel Casey) vs. The Bayless Twins (Brandi and Wendi)/Christa Carmondy goes to a time limit draw
Both Carrigan and Carmondy tuned up for their MVW Title Sunday night showdown in a good ol’ fashioned six woman tag match involving the combatants in the Tag Team Title match as well.
Dawn McGill came out one last time after the final match to run down the MVWA 72 card for Sunday night.
OPENER: ‘The Argenta Rose’ Eva Perrin with Colonel John Perrin and the Descamisados vs. ‘Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot with the White Trash Posse
Perrin and Harlot have battled back and forth over the past two months to be the champion of the downtrodden and depressed. On Sunday night, both parties aim to settle their differences once and for all.
MVW TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Bayless Twins (Brandi and Wendi) © vs. Angels of Death (Angel Scott/Angel Casey)
Brandi and Wendi were unlikely champions- that is, before ‘Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann rescued them from the scrap heap and led them to the tag belts. Now, Brandi and Wendi face the 4 time MVW Tag Champions and the Angels would love nothing more than to end their reign and become FIVE time MVW Tag Team Champions.
MAIN EVENT/MVW TITLE MATCH: ‘Canadian Cyborg’ Sheline Carrigan © vs. Christa Carmondy
This isn’t Christa Carmondy’s first rodeo. She’s been in this position more times than she cares to think about in the past. Is this finally the night Christa wins gold. Or will the Canadian Cyborg’s MVW title run keep rolling along.
