Missouri Valley Wrestling’s MVWA 70 Preview
2016 couldn’t have come soon enough for Missouri Valley Wrestling. A difficult end of 2015 not only saw back room upheaval as the company was sold to the Missouri Valley Wrestling Supporter’s Trust but several established talent also departed the company forcing acting MVW Director Dawn McGill to plant the seeds for the future with younger wrestlers who had to learn on the fly.
Add to McGill’s heartburn the never ending chirping from the sidelines from her perpetual thorn, ‘the Sports Entertainment Genius’ Mr. McMann, and you have the recipe in place for January’s MVWA 69 show aka…‘When Sports Entertainment Attacks!’
Eight months pregnant with twins and ready to go on maternity leave after almost singlehandedly keeping MVW going for the previous four months, McGill called McMann’s bluff and told him to put up or shut up. On a night where the new Missouri Valley Wrestling Supporter’s Trust elected their board and, later on, the board would then elect a new permanent director of MVW, McMann’s Sport Entertainment Consortium took over MVWA 69 and gave the Sports Entertainment Genius a golden opportunity to show the new board just what he could do with the book.
The resulting choices Mr. McMann made would have made Vince Russo go “dude, what the hell were you thinking?” But don’t take our word for it, check out the show for yourself that would have McGill tell McMann at last weekend’s MVW house show “Who the hell died and made you the Supreme Arbiter of Best Booking Practices?”
After the sports entertainment influenced MVWA 69, Dawn McGill finally took a well-deserved break for maternity leave and handed the baton off to the former owner of MVW- Jason Carmondy. Carmondy would run the company while she was away.
Carmondy would be the beneficiary of McGill’s work as the seeds she’d planted at the end of 2015 began to blossom and bloom. Jill Berg Enterprises morphed into Main Street USA with former original MVW bad girl Christa Carmondy at the helm. The SEC continued to be a force and added ‘Texas Cowgirl’ Haley Dallas and Daisy Cutter-Bomb to the group to offset the loss of Sheline Carrigan. The Green World Order would also assert themselves as Penny…now Poison Penny…finally found her new voice and a new way to take her place as the leader of the GWO.
You’ll have to check out MVWA 69 to find out how all of this came about.
As for the younger wrestlers who McGill spent countless hours working with and cultivating their talents, well, they would gain a new champion to help them continue to grow while Dawn was away on leave. Sheik Yorbouti, the Disco Loving, Jet Setting International Playboy from the East- or is he MVW’s version of Gene, Gene The Dancing Machine?- would come to their aid after veteran Svetlana Kovaleski attacked them because they hadn’t ‘paid their dues.’
The fruits of McGill’s labor will be there to see as this Saturday’s MVWA 70 approaches.
MVWA 70 Card
MATCH ONE: Ninja Kitty vs. ‘High Flying Intercontinental Flight Attendant’ Airline Amie
-what better way to kick off the night than to feature two of Missouri Valley Wrestling’s high flyers in a singles match. Ninja Kitty is a former Heartland champion, cat quick…get it?…and a favorite of MVW’s house show scene. Airline Amie is one of Dawn McGill’s youngsters who’s had her ups and downs.
MATCH TWO: ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin (Main Street USA) vs. ‘Texas Cowgirl’ Haley Dallas (SEC)
-check out MVWA 69 to find out why the former tag team champions are at odds with each other. But suffice to say, the two former friends are no longer on speaking terms with each other after a house show implosion of epic proportion. Dallas aligned herself with Mr. McMann’s Sports Entertainment Consortium. Tess with Main Street USA. This Saturday night, they’ll be aiming to settle their differences in the ring and both will have their new friends in their corner to support them.
MATCH THREE: Christa Carmondy (Main Street USA) vs. Poison Penny (Green World Order)
-a battle between two women who’ve been at each other’s throats during the early going in 2016. At MVWA 69, Penny unleashed her Poison Kiss on Carmondy and left her sprawled out in the ring. At MVWA 70, Christa vows to get payback on the former MVW champion. Carmondy has lost two consecutive number one contender’s matches (won by Sheline Carrigan). Penny believes she was unfairly excluded from the number one contender’s match last week and desperately wants to get another shot at the title.
MAIN EVENT/MVW TITLE MATCH: Kathryn Randall Collins © vs. ‘Canadian Cyborg’ Sheline Carrigan w/Jill Berg
-at MVWA 69, KRC and Carrigan had their match prematurely ended when the SEC’s Prisoner #034291 interfered in the match- much to Carrigan’s anger. Now, Carrigan has ditched the SEC and reconciled with the Corporate Predator Extraordinaire and former MVW Champion Jill Berg. KRC used her guile to derail Carrigan’s previous attempts to win the title. Now, Carrigan has Berg’s years of ring experience on her side. Can the Canadian Cyborg finally reach the top of Missouri Valley Wrestling against the veteran Collins?
The answer will be found this Saturday night at MVWA 70.
